Wise Guide Outfitters is privately owned by Tom and Cathy Murray.
Tom came to Alaska in 1989 from Pennsylvania. Tom started guiding the Kenai River in 1991 after spending 2 years working for a local sportfishing lodge as a cook. His knowledge of this river is truly remarkable. He has spent countless days training other guides how to fish this river as well. Just about every guide on the Upper Kenai River has spent time in the boat with Tom gaining his knowledge as well as his rowing skills. Tom has been featured on ESPN outdoors 5 times during his carrer as a sportfishing guide on the Upper Kenai River as well as featured in "Wild on the fly" magazine.
In 2006 Tom added an additional guide to his business. Mike Hawley. Mike came to us with a wealth of knowledge of this blue ribbon river. Mike has a degree in biology and wildlife management. Mike worked for a local lodge for 5 years before coming to fish with us. With Mikes background, education and experience, we are proud to have him on our fishing team.
Is the intent of all our trips to provide the angler of any skill level with the most enjoyable and enlightening Kenai River experience possible. The beauty and inticacy of the Kenai River and its valley speaks for itself. Our aim is to direct our guests attention to this fact. As a result, our guides incorporate discussions on the biology of fish, including habitat, feeding characteristics, migration tendencies and habits. In addition, river ecology, hydrology, glaciology, flora and fauna and geology are topics of interest. We have found, through experience, that this approach not only enlightens the trip of our guests, but also empowers them as an angler with the knowledge that can enhance their fishing experience. The intent of all of our trips is to provide to our guests with the most well rounded Kenai River experience possible. We take the time to look around us. As guides, our philosophy is to let the rivers and forests awe our guests, we just try to facilitate the matter.
Our goal is to make sure you enjoy your Alaska experience to it's fullest. We cater to your desires and needs as the angler. We are on your schedule and needs not ours! We make the promise to give 100% of our attention to your trip.
